Southern Illinois Photography FAQ page

What kind of photographer am I?

I capture many different styles and brands of photography. My main objective is to make this an event. Something special that you will want to do throughout your life. I want my images to envoke those exact things you were thinking, feeling, smelling and touching. Time goes by so fast and I wish I would have captured moments of time when my children were younger. You know those moments when you hold your newborn and smell their little heads. The scent just makes you close your eyes. You can’t picture anything more perfect? Or how about that engagement session where you and your love are looking at each other and can’t imagine how life could get any better. Wondering what is in store for you? Also, the high school senior is completing a momentous time in life. You have to almost lasso those times to save them. That is what my mission is. To capture your images, help to guide you to create art that will last a lifetime.

Where will my session be held?

I am based out of Southern Illinois, mostly SouthWestern. My sessions are mostly held remotely. I love using natural light and our beautiful landscapes, in Southern Illinois, as backdrops.

I do many in-home sessions. These are great for family and newborn sessions. In-home sessions help the parents and children to relax and be comfortable.

I have a studio for more options.

Traveling is also an option.

How long are your sessions?

Most family, engagement and headshot sessions are usually about 45 minutes – 1 hour long. With our busy lifestyles, there is not much time to get families together to photograph, let alone a large span of time. I try to maximize your time. I do this by having you provide information before the session. The information I gain about you is vital to a successful session.

Senior sessions depend on the package that you choose, but 2 hours is usually the minimum. The best way to maximize a senior session is to talk with your photographer about what you want and find a space that will have most backdrops that you want!

Boudoir sessions are at least 2 hours. Usually there are a few outfit changes and backdrop changes!

When are the sessions?

In-home sessions should be in the late morning for optimal natural light.

On-location sessions are best a couple hours after sunrise or before sunset. This time of day provides exquisite lighting to enhance your images.

In-studio sessions can be any time of day.

What will my session be like?

This depends on what type of session you choose to book.

Newborn sessions are very easy going. I bring some props, like swaths and baskets.

Family and engagement sessions are relaxed and enjoyable. I want you to relax so leave your kiddo’s to me. I try to mix it up and give the kids time to play in between.

Senior sessions are fun and exciting or can be easy and mellow. It all depends on the senior.

Everyone is unique and I highlight you!

How do I view my Gallery and what is included in that?

Each Gallery is all about you! I include all of the color images and then run a fine art and bold black and white also!! Depending on the session, some people leave with over 50 images. Though most have at least 75 and I have others who had 202!! Oh My Gosh Right!?!

Here is the deal. I don’t like to decide which images you love most. That is just silly. I have know idea which one you will love the most. So, I give you all of them.

Your gallery will be delivered by email. I also message you to let you know it is waiting for you! I will put music to your slideshow, so hold on! All you have to do is sit back, watch the movie, relax and hopefully have some tears of joy! (I always cross my fingers for this!)

When can I make appointments for a session?

I have sessions on weekends and in the evenings. Depending on the time of year, I can book out quickly. All you have to do is fill out a contact form and I will contact you with the information you are looking for.

Will I get digital photos from my session?

I give all digital images to you through the collection website, that is included in the session fee. You will have access to download all high resolution images. I also have USB drives at a reasonable cost if that is your preference.

How can I order prints and products from you?

I have an awesome lab that I work with who has a wide variety of high-quality products. You will have access to order prints, canvas gallery wraps, metal prints, framed and matted prints, and much more.

How much do you charge?

I have an session fee of $150.00 for most engagement, headshot, model, family, maternity and newborn. This fee covers my consultation, session time, including local travel, editing and your digital images.  I require 50% of the engagement fee at booking.  The remainder is paid by the day before the session date.

High School Senior Sessions start at $299 and can be found here. Other packages include hairstyling and makeup, multiple locations, and multiple season image sessions are available.

What type of sessions do you do?
