This was a thoughtful and painstakingly, arduous task. My father’s dad was born in Italy. Truthfully, this is a little embarrassing, but I have no idea where in Italy. By the time I found this information, it was on his death certificate. Then again, by the time I really became interested in my heritage, my father was ill and soon passed. Any who, I feel a deep connection to my father and his ancestry. I plan on getting more involved on this path as some of my current hobbies, fall off my list. You know, like getting my Master’s degree. Graduation has been submitted!! Truthfully, I cannot wait until the day. I am pretty proud of myself. Such a little slacker and trouble-maker in late high school. Now, I am so far from that little girl, who was going through some rough times.
There I go…. off on a tangent. So, when I started looking at names and discussing this with my husband, this path of my family heritage was discussed at length. I came up with multiple names and even tried a name picking website. Nothing felt right. Then finally I chose some English names and translated them in Italian. Finally….. I found something that I really felt connected with….. Beautiful Picture. When separated translates into Bellissamo – Immagini. But, since I really don’t know anyone who speaks Italian, I thought maybe I would convert the word picture, to image. The last thing I wanted to do was to confuse those who may read my articles or peruse my photography.
So…. That’s It! The story behind the name. Well, at least part of it. 😉
